Brief Biography:- I create light sculptures and installations that celebrate light and articulate public spaces in positive and surprising ways. My aim is to use new emerging lighting and interactive technologies to to put visual vitality into the built environment. Born in Manchester UK, I first saw the light on the annual church trips to the Blackpool illuminations. I made my first light sculptures studying for a Fine Arts Degree at Bristol Polytechnic in the 1970's. On a visit to Las Vegas, I was inspired by the colour and scale of the incredible neon architecture and set out to learn the craft of making neon. I studied neon glass blowing for 2 years before setting up my first lighting studio in London in 1983 with the help of the Crafts Council. My first pieces were one off neons for shops, architectural commissions and private clients. In 1991 I completed an MA in Fine Art at Goldsmiths College. In 1993 I moved to the the Penwith Peninsula in Cornwall from where I continue to light up the skylines of the UK and Europe, creating light sculptures and architectural lighting installations now using a wide variety of light forms including neon, led, floodlights, and fibre-optics.
