Glamrock - Southshore romenade - Blackpool

I love the energy of Blackpool and its illuminations so it was a great privilege to be invited to create a permanent light sculpture for the South Shore Promenade.

The Glamrock forms are based on sea smoothed beach pebbles and modelled in a 3D- computer program. Fibre-optic light points change colour and sparkle, creating glittering coloured surfaces. The mass of the sculpture is made from white sprayed concrete. There are three forms the largest is 2 metres long and 1.5 metres high.

Glamrock was completed in 2002 and commissioned by Blackpool Borough Council. Glamrock was project managed by the Art Department.
