glamrock 2002 - Southshore promenade - Blackpool - I love the energy of Blackpool and its illuminations so it was a fantastic honour to be invited to create a permanent light sculpture for the South Shore Promenade. The glamrock forms are based on sea smoothed beach pebbles and modelled in a 3D-computer program. Fibre-optic light points change colour and sparkle, creating glittering coloured surfaces. The mass of the sculpture is made from white sprayed concrete. There are three forms the largest is 2 metres long and 1.5 metres high. glamrock was commissioned by Blackpool Borough Council and project managed by the Art Department.
